Conservation Services

The Studio specialises in the conservation of prints, drawings, watercolours and other paper-based materials and offers a mounting and framing service. In addition, Elizabeth and Louise can undertake collection surveys and give advice on the storage and care of paper objects. The majority of their commissions come from within the West Midlands but they have recently established links with a high profile art dealer in London and a private client in New York.

OVC is based in the Museum and Art Gallery's Paper and Paintings Conservation Department, which was recently refurbished under the Renaissance in the Regions programme. The renovated studio provides a large, clean, environmentally-controlled space and is equipped with a tilting sink, low pressure suction table, fume extraction unit and analytical equipment. In addition, the Department has secure storage facilities and a library, well-stocked with conference papers, periodicals and research documents. Elizabeth and Louise are fortunate to work alongside the Museum and Art Gallery's conservators and curators, with whom they have collaborated on a number of projects.
